Today is my actual birthday- I know I've been talking about it for a week, but forrealz today's the day. I'm 38.
I don't have much to say, other than, when looking back on pictures while preparing for this post, I have come to realize that I'm getting better with age. My personal style is defined, my skin is wrinkle-free, I am constantly learning and working on a better me. I have a great marriage, fantastic kids and a wonderful net of support around me in my family and friends.
So bring on 38, in fact, bring on the almost 40s. I'm going to rock this. And on the days when I can't...there's always coffee and gangsta rap.

And as a treat, here are some look backs at my personal "style"...if you can call it that.

I wore a Chicago Bulls winter jacket my entire middle years....I have never liked basketball.[/caption]

The year we wore candy necklaces everywhere...[/caption]

Dan actually thought this was Lucia...but all the 70s surrounding it gave it away.[/caption]

I kinda want that windbreaker....first day of kindergarten.[/caption]

I wished I knew the Deena who wore candy necklaces FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.
ReplyDeleteAnd p.s. I am jealous you are wrinkle free. That is not a descriptor I will be using on my 38th bday post! lol But. . . . I am okay with that too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday My Friend. Love your shirt and this bomber jacket. Loving that prom dress! Everybody had a windbreaker :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday (yesterday). I am admire your confidence as you enter this new year, and you should be confident. I think we learn to appreciate the bigger, more meaningful pieces of our lives as we grow older, maybe slightly wiser, and we are less worried about fitting in or whatever. I am with Jordan, wrinkle free is not my face, or acne free, but that's life. Really enjoyed reading your posts on aging.
ReplyDeleteThat Deena danced on speakers to Britney.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend. That's definitely the best part about aging- the reflective learning and appreciation!
ReplyDeleteThank yoU!

Happy birthday! It's been a fun way to look back and celebrate your birthday! :) I hope I can look back and say I'm happy with my personal style by my birthday, I think it's ever evolving. I'd love to have a sequin maxi dress as pretty as yours! May pull off your fun tee better though, haha.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great week and have a wonderful weekend ahead of you :)
Away From The Blue Blog
I think everyone had one of those big puffy sports jacket at one point in life. I know I had at least one, maybe 2 :) And it most certainly was 2 sizes too big.
ReplyDeleteUmmm...I thought that was Lucia as well. Unbelievable! Great post!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! Ditto on the thinking it was Lucia! You ARE rockin' it!!
