Today is a great day: my sister's birthday. Happy birthday to the most beautiful, thoughtful, caring, generous,
Today I'm featuring Barefoot Contessa's Chicken Piccata and Lemon Yogourt Cake. It was a great meal...maybe too much lemon for one meal, but good nonetheless.
1) Chicken Piccata. Recipe here.
I was intrigued by this recipe because I had never heard of it, yet it seemed like it was an everyday(ish) dish. In fact, just when I passed the recipe in the book and said, chicken piccata...must be spicy, I'll skip it....my friend Sheila featured it on her blog here. So I had to try it. Lucia loves lemons, so she was all over this one. I don't think I got the sauce right, so I think this one will have to go back into the rotation for a re-try.
| Lana, I'm not sure what I was watching while cooking this recipe...maybe Gilmore Girls? |
2) Lemon Yogourt Cake. Recipe here. Again, another success in Lucia's books. My little lemon lover. She wanted this for bedtime snack and then again in her lunch and then again the moment she got home from school. This is a repeater.
So what about you? Lemon eater? Lemon in water? Or is lemon solely reserved for tequila?
Lemon and tequila??? What? LOL We do limes and tequila here. Aside from that (of course the liquor gets my attention....) I'm freaking in love with your lemon cake and that chicken looks great too! I'm not a pasta fan so this post really delighted me! I hope your weekend is FABULOUS!

Lemon is George's favorite, so I'm definitely making the chicken. The cake will have to wait until he can eat cake again - ooh, maybe for his birthday. Thanks for telling me what you were watching, because I need to know :)!
ReplyDeleteI am with Lucia - I love lemons (and limes)! Lemon Pudding cakes (recipe Fine Cooking) - are amazing if you are looking for more dessert lemon ideas.

Yesssss to lemon loaf!!
ReplyDeleteHugh and Lucia are similar!
ReplyDeleteAnd on a lemony note, once after we were just married Hugh made lemon squares. I was going on about how good they were and Hugh said, "Well, glad you like them, but they aren't very healthy." Knowing full well that lemon squares typically aren't I didn't really respond, so Hugh said, "They have a pound of butter in them." Shocked I exclaimed, "Two whole cups." Not phased, Hugh goes, "Nope just one cup." Well, Hugh thought that a pound was one cup, so they were melt-in-your-mouth, double butter delicious!
Your food looks delicious! We love us some chicken piccata! I mean, how can you not??? :)
ReplyDeleteDeliciousness!
